INTRODUCTION
Competency is the term used extensively by different people in different contexts. Competencies are the requirement of a 'competency based ' teacher education and include the knowledge, skills and values. A competency consist of one or more skills whose mastery would enable the attainment of competency. A competency is limited to all three of domain under which performance can be assessed. It is possible to assess a competency from a teacher's performance. It involves the ability to meet complex demands by mobilizing resources. It is essential to an educator's pursuit of excellence.
CONTENT
Teaching competency is more than just knowledge and skills. Teacher's need a wide range of competencies in order to face the complex challenges of today's world. It is an inherent the element one that aspires to contribute to the welfare of a particular world, itself.
The teaching skills and lifelong learning competencies of teachers are:
- To perform Complex pedagogical duties.
- To be well spoken in good mental and physical health,stable and tolerant.
- To have a prosperity to work with the younger generation ,a good communicative and observational skills,vivid imagination and leadership.

- Use irrelevant criteria to evaluate scientific data or statements.

Pedagogical competency
Pedagogical competency is the ability of teachers in managing learning that include the ability to plan a learning program, the ability to interact or manage the learning process and ability to perform an assessment. The ability to interact on issues related to teaching and learning in higher education with individuals active both within and outside university is also included in pedagogicalcompetence. Pedagogical competencies based on sound, broad and current Knowledge within the subject area,as well as knowledge of learning and learning issues. It also comprises the abilities and willingness to take part in discussions on pedagogy to achieve personal development and contribute to others.
Pedagogic competencies include:
- Teaching skill
- Theoretical knowledge
- Attitude characterized by willingness and the ability to develop.
Technological competency
Technological competency is the ability to create and use a particular field of technology effectively which is gained through extensive experimentation and learning in its research development and employment in production. In developing the skills teachers and students can tap a host of digital technologies.
An educator should have following basic technology skills:
- Word processing skill
- Spreadsheet skills
- Database skills
- Web navigation skill
- email management skill
Technology has the power to transform teaching by ushering in a new model of connected teaching. This links teacher to students, resources and Systems to help them improve their own instruction and personalized learning.
CONCLUSION
The best teachers are proficient in the technical competencies of teaching such as instructional delivery,formative assessment and classroom management. These skills must be defined as clear behaviours that teachers can master for use in classroom. Teacher should have the ability to communicate effectively. It is related to the ability to master the knowledge. Pedagogical competence is the ability to manage learning,which includes planning, implementation and evaluation of learning outcomes of the learners.
